Finding a Shiny Guantlet

Welcome Time Wasters! This week I searched around until I discovered a game in development called Shiny Gauntlet. The protagonist of the game is a spirit that is trying to escape a dungeon. Shiny Gauntlet is an indie game that has rouge-like elements to it. The game drops players in a randomly-generated, unlit dungeon and has them run around as different classes killing monsters and collecting loot until they reach the end. What makes Shiny Gauntlet a little different from other rougelike games is that players don’t permanently have a class. Instead, the player’s class is affected by what weapon they … Continue reading Finding a Shiny Guantlet

Checking Out the Jobchanger Brigade Prealpha

Welcome Time Wasters! I’ve gone further than any hipster has hoped to go. Instead of just checking out a game in it’s alpha, I’m looking at one in its prealpha. Get your fedoras and neckbeards ready! (Note: I do own a fedora and have been known to sport a neckbeard from time to time. It’s a joke, people.) Alright, so this week’s game is called Jobchanger Brigade. It’s a 2D game that has RPG elements combined with hack-n-slash combat. The game is very early in its build so there isn’t much in the way of story. All I can figure is … Continue reading Checking Out the Jobchanger Brigade Prealpha

On his journey, he reaches a small mining town that has run into a unique problem; they can’t leave the town and all the miners are missing. The miner chief enlists the help of the warrior to figure out what is going on in the mines and put it right. Chasm is a … Continue reading Alpha Preview: Chasm

Mixing It Up in Cannon Brawl

Welcome Time Wasters! Can I just start this off by saying we live in a unique time as gamers. The indie scene has blown up over the last few years and it’s great to see developers getting their games released without publishers. We’re also seeing developers takes genres we know and love and mix them together to create new, interesting titles. This includes games like Destiny, League of Legend and Cannon Brawl. Just in case the title of this article didn’t make it obvious, Cannon Brawl is the game I spent my time with this week. It was just released on Steam … Continue reading Mixing It Up in Cannon Brawl
