Welcome Time Wasters! This week I searched around until I discovered a game in development called Shiny Gauntlet. The protagonist of the game is a spirit that is trying to escape a dungeon. Shiny Gauntlet is an indie game that has rouge-like elements to it. The game drops players in a randomly-generated, unlit dungeon and has them run around as different classes killing monsters and collecting loot until they reach the end. What makes Shiny Gauntlet a little different from other rougelike games is that players don’t permanently have a class. Instead, the player’s class is affected by what weapon they … Continue reading Finding a Shiny Guantlet →
Fold the Adventure is a humorous and unique puzzle adventure that has players folding and cutting paper, trying to build stable platforms for a little rabbit named Nezo. It’s smart and fun for all ages.

Welcome Time Wasters! I’ve gone further than any hipster has hoped to go. Instead of just checking out a game in it’s alpha, I’m looking at one in its prealpha. Get your fedoras and neckbeards ready! (Note: I do own a fedora and have been known to sport a neckbeard from time to time. It’s a joke, people.) Alright, so this week’s game is called Jobchanger Brigade. It’s a 2D game that has RPG elements combined with hack-n-slash combat. The game is very early in its build so there isn’t much in the way of story. All I can figure is … Continue reading Checking Out the Jobchanger Brigade Prealpha →
This week our Time Waster checks out Robotex, which is basically what Wall-E would have been without Disney making it. In other words, you have to kill all life on a planet to pave the way for human colonists.
Missing Alpha Centauri? Firaxis got around those pesky licensing issues with the release of Civilization: Beyond Earth, which challenges players to build a new civilization on an alien world. Are you ready for liftoff?
Welcome Time Wasters! This week I checked out an early version of a game called Chasm. Chasm is a Kickstarter game that has been successfully funded and is now available for pre-order. Chasm puts players in the role of a weary warrior that is making his way home. On his journey, he reaches a small mining town that has run into a unique problem; they can’t leave the town and all the miners are missing. The miner chief enlists the help of the warrior to figure out what is going on in the mines and put it right. Chasm is a … Continue reading Alpha Preview: Chasm →
Welcome Time Wasters! Can I just start this off by saying we live in a unique time as gamers. The indie scene has blown up over the last few years and it’s great to see developers getting their games released without publishers. We’re also seeing developers takes genres we know and love and mix them together to create new, interesting titles. This includes games like Destiny, League of Legend and Cannon Brawl. Just in case the title of this article didn’t make it obvious, Cannon Brawl is the game I spent my time with this week. It was just released on Steam … Continue reading Mixing It Up in Cannon Brawl →
This week Billy checks out a free multiplayer game on Steam called Gear Up that has him building tanks to fight other players. Should you give it a look?
Nancy Drew is a great adventure game series for young people with over 30 titles under its belt. But The Shattered Medallion’s emphasis on a Reality TV show makes this one’s story a bit flat.
