It seemed like a great thing, giving PlayStation Plus gamers a version of the exclusive racer Driveclub for free on the PlayStation 4 in October. But massive problems with the paid version of the game have left the free players spinning their wheels.
The battle for Destiny is also a battle for gamers as Bungie’s new FPS could secure a sales lead for the PlayStation 4 this Christmas, thanks to the help of some clever marketing tactics from Sony. All’s fair in love, war and gaming, right?

Another Sony exclusive, Rime is the upcoming puzzle adventure from Deadlight developer, Tequila Works. The stunning, whimsical trailer put the pretty into the Sony press conference, offering visions of a boy lost on a mystical island. The game shows promise and more than an element of Ico, as a boy in a tunic journeys across a deserted island. There is a mysterious white tower and some fantastical elements, such as copper globes on legs. I kid you not. Sony’s Gamescom press conference delivered first ever gameplay footage of new IP, Bloodborne. The action-RPG is a PS4 exclusive and the trailer shows a game with more than a hint of the gothic. Microsoft’s media briefing ahead of Gamescom 2014 came the shock announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an “Xbox exclusive”. As the follow-up game to the successful Tomb Raider reboot and Lara Croft’s latest adventure, this is a major coup for Microsoft and puts Sony on the back foot.
