Lord of the Rings Gollum and Steelrising Get First Trailers

Exclusively revealed during The Game Awards which took place last night in Los Angeles, NACON is happy to share new trailers from two of its most highly anticipated games: Steelrising and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Showcasing new footage of the ambitious souls-like developed by Spiders, this new Steelrising trailer highlights King Louis XVI’s obsession for automata, and spotlights Aegis, the game’s protagonist. An automaton formerly devoted to dance for the pleasure of court, Aegis is now a warrior and the bodyguard of Marie-Antoinette. Appointed by the Queen, Aegis will have to navigate through a Paris crawling with machines. Each fight with these mechanical enemies is a challenge where the player’s skills are subjected to tremendous ordeals. Such is the price to pay for those who want to change the course of history.

Steelrising depicts an alternative version of history in 1789: what if King Louis XVI, who loved clockmaking, had built an army of robots capable of quelling the anger of people? Powerful and cruel, this army spares no one and violently punishes rebels. Paris is burning and bleeding. Men, women and children are being systematically massacred.

And in this new cinematic trailer unveiled by Daedalic Entertainment and NACON, the struggle between the two personalities of Sméagol and Gollum is ever-present, and you can see just how they play off each other in this tiny peek of the stealth-action adventure that is set to release in 2022. Coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum offers a brand-new perspective, all the while staying true to the vision laid out in The Lord of the Rings.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action-adventure, where players take on the role of Gollum to win back his precious lost ring. They have to climb, jump and sneak through dangerous areas, avoid getting caught and try to keep the upper hand. Gollum is skillful and sly, but also torn by his split personality. It is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.
