The third game of the new trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider ends the rebooted and re-imagined origin story of perennial adventurer Lara Croft. Shadow comes closest to the classic gameplay of yesteryear, where environmental puzzles ruled over intense combat and fighting.
Square Enix, Eidos-Montréal, and Crystal Dynamics announced today that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is being developed on the NVIDIA RTX platform and will be among the first games to feature real-time ray tracing as a rendering technique. According to a new Eurogamer report, Rise of the Tomb Raider is probably a timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360. When pressed on whether the game will make it to other platforms, Xbox boss, Phil Spencer was a little bit cagey. He did admit that the deal “has a duration”. Microsoft’s media briefing ahead of Gamescom 2014 came the shock announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an “Xbox exclusive”. As the follow-up game to the successful Tomb Raider reboot and Lara Croft’s latest adventure, this is a major coup for Microsoft and puts Sony on the back foot.
