Up next, driverless police cars. Now that is a scary thought.

What Will be the Setting of GTA VI?

After years of speculation about whether a new instalment in the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto series would be forthcoming, it has finally been confirmed that a new title is in the works. Rockstar Games has most likely been working on it in secret ever since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and there was a recent leak showing where the current game is at.

Now, gamers have turned their focus towards trying to guess what the setting will be for the new title. Many think that it could be returning to Vice City, one of the most popular places in the franchise so far.

Why is the Setting of a GTA Game so Important?

The location of each GTA game is one of the most anticipated aspects of its release. The franchise has tended to use fictional locations, but many of these have become iconic and have grown into familiar places for players. For example, GTA IV used Liberty City, which draws a lot of inspiration from New York and New Jersey.

The in-game location of Alderney in GTA IV was directly inspired by Jersey City, and there are a lot of spots that share similarities with famous locations within the state. The Rockstar Games title has always been closely related to casino culture, which is why it used one of the USA’s most famous states for gambling as an idea for a location. In GTA V, the studio expanded on this idea further and introduced a casino in which players could take part in table games.

It would be interesting for a new GTA game to revisit this New Jersey-inspired location, especially seeing as the casino sector in the state has blown up in the years since then. Many sites are now operating in the region, and Playstar just had its New Jersey casino launch. The site has plenty of state-of-the-art games for players to choose from, including Slingo X-Scream and Football Studio First Person. It has opened in the region because of the huge market in the state for online casinos now.

Fans Have Speculated About a Return to Vice City for Some Time

There has long been talk that the next GTA game would return to Vice City, and GTA Vice City in 2002 was one of the most beloved titles in the series. Vice City takes inspiration from Miami, but it has only appeared in one game to date. The recent leak seems to suggest that GTA VI will take players back to Vice City once again, only this time it will be the present day. There is likely to be a huge expansion on the location, though, with other Florida-influenced settings set to be included.

With GTA 6 expected to be one of the greatest games ever made, it wouldn’t be out of the question for it to hop to other famous GTA locations. That means that there is a chance that Liberty City and San Andreas could also appear. There was even a GTA London back in the day, and players would love to revisit that concept. They may get their wish as well, as one source claimed that the England capital would play a part.

It is exciting to think that players may have the chance to return to Vice City after all these years. It will also be interesting to see how the location has changed, seeing as how the last game there was set in the 1980s. There has been no official announcement about GTA VI yet, but it is definitely on the horizon.
