User Generated MMO Hits A Million Users

ROBLOX, a free online building game, today announced that it has surpassed one million active monthly users on its user-generated website. The building game gives kids the ability work together to conceptualize, create and design their own utopia from scratch.

ROBLOX attracts more than the average kid gamer, as it’s a starting point for parents looking to find a common ground with their children. It provides a great forum for users to socialize, interact and share their creative stories with other users. The site also teaches the basic principles of physics by educating users in the dynamics of construction as they build.

"Most games aimed at kids are the traditional point and shoot video games and don’t allow them to be creative," said David Baszucki, founder and CEO of ROBLOX. "Everything on ROBLOX is generated by the player, and this gives the users a sense of ownership and pride that the traditional video game does not. ROBLOX makes building fun. The learning is accidental."

While ROBLOX is free to play, users also have the option of purchasing different levels of membership. Known as "Builder’s Club", users who join can create more ROBLOX levels and earn "ROBUX," which can be used to buy in-game items.
