Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson is launching a new video game development studio called Wingnut Interactive. And he already has his first project according to Microsoft: creating one of two upcoming games set in the Halo universe. Bungie Studios, which created the original game is currently working on Halo 3, which will be the next title in the Halo franchise. Wingnut Interactive is scheduled to create the game after that. The game that Jackson's new studio will produce has yet to be named. Both Halo titles are planned for the Xbox 360.

In addition to the Halo title, Wingnut Interactive announced that it is producing another game for the 360 which does not yet have a name. However, that game is supposed to be an effort to lure nontraditional gamers to the console platform.
