Klaas Kersting Founds Flaregames

Klaas Kersting, founder and former CEO of the leading online game publisher Gameforge today announced his new company, flaregames, that has been operating in stealth mode for the past several months. The company that brings together the real world and the virtual world via mobile devices has brought together an experienced team of experts in the games space. A demo of flaregames’ first title will be shown to select media and potential business partners at gamescom in Cologne, Germany, in August.

"flaregames’ vision is to create outstanding mobile games that involve the real world and feature deeper interaction than simple check-ins," said Klaas Kersting, CEO of flaregames. "We see our games as the fusion of the real world and virtual world while delivering an entertaining experience woven into the daily routine of our players’ lives."

Before founding flaregames, Kersting was the CEO and founder of Gameforge, a world leader in online gaming, where he built the company from scratch to more than 400 employees, over 150 Million US$ in annual revenue and more than 200 million registered players in just five years. In his new role as CEO of flaregames, Kersting has begun building an experienced team including a remarkable group of co-founders that will make a significant impact in the mobile gaming space.

Andreas Suika, former lead game designer for Ubisoft Blue Byte, whose titles sold several million units, is responsible for the overall game design of flaregames’ titles as Creative Director.

Georg Broxtermann serves as the Business Development Director of flaregames. He built up the games activities at ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG in 2005 and recently started GPS Mission, a platform for outdoor GPS games.

Industry Veteran Bob Wallace, former Chief Strategy Officer of Ensemble Studios, has joined the board and is consulting the company on its strategic direction.

flaregames currently employs a staff of 15 games industry veterans that have an average of ten years experience in the games industry. The company is looking to add additional top talent in all disciplines as it gears up for growth.
