Nintendo, Thou Art Forgiven" (Well, almost)

Cater to your loyal Nintendo crowd!

Over the past few months these have been my harshest criticisms towards Nintendo. I have been particularly harsh towards Reggie Fils-Aime (or just Reggie as I have been referring to him,) because despite being a favorite amongst Nintendo fans everywhere, he has seriously disappointed me in terms of not taking responsibility for Wii stock, as well as the stock of Wii Fits and Balance Boards.

And then of course, there was that dreaded E3 press conference; a conference where many a Nintendo loyalist felt betrayed over the lack of any key titles designed to cater to their audience. They don't care about Wii Sports Resort, nor that Wii Motion Plus attachment that makes the Wiimote do what it was meant to do in the first place.

They did not care about Animal Crossing with the Wii Speak microphone, which adds yet another peripheral to a console whose peripherals are near impossible to find to begin with (and I go back to the aforementioned Balance Board to show my point.)

And then"there's Wii Music. I still do not have enough words to say how uninterested I am in this game. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love hearing classic Nintendo soundtracks (and I still am strongly considering Smash Bros. Brawl for the best soundtrack of the year,) but combining that with public domain songs and what I'm sure will be covers of pop songs aren't going to gain my interest that both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour have already taken away.

Needless to say I strongly considered taken action for my disgust towards Nintendo, even going as far as putting my system (and all the games and peripherals with it) up for auction with the proceeds to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It was even going to be a huge announcement to take place on a future episode of GamerGeeks, and Kelly knew about this in advance.
But then, something happened.

Last week, Nintendo had a special press conference, which in my opinion was a way of saying "I'm sorry" to all the hardcore Nintendo gamers, those who stood by them during the low days of the N64 and GameCube. Some of the titles that came out really came as a surprise to me. Brining out a sequel to the underrated Sin and Punishment, a title that only recently saw the light of day in the States thanks to the Virtual Console, would have been enough for me to turn my Wii on after a long hiatus. However that wasn't enough. A little title that I loved on the original Nintendo, and also released on Virtual Console (except with its former titular character) took me by surprise and brought me back to the fold.

Punch-Out!!!

Not only are they bringing back this classic, from what I saw from the trailer it's based on the NES version. Little Mac is back along with Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, and of course, King Hippo with all of his drawer dropping hilarity. That already is enough for me but I have one huge request for Nintendo. Get the guys from Team Awesome (who were responsible for a hilarious trailer about Little Mac's return) to do the voice acting, especially whoever played Von Kaiser. I'd so geek out if I hear him actually yell out "give ’em Zee Uppercut!"

There you go Reggie, these two titles are the first step in getting me back to playing the Wii. But it's only the start.

Now, about those Wii Fit shortages"
