Hi all! I’m back with the latest audiobook in the Liam Mulligan Series! It’s time to enter the snake’s den with a Scourge of Vipers, Liam Mulligan Series Book 04, by Bruce DeSilva!
Plot Synopsis: Liam Mulligan, investigative reporter for The Providence Dispatch, wants to investigate, but his bottom-feeding corporate bosses at the dying newspaper have no interest in serious reporting. So Mulligan goes rogue, digging into the stories on his own time. He quickly finds himself in a new case with higher stakes than ever before.
Plot: The plot is very good. This is easily the best entry in the series I’ve listened to so far, and since this is the latest one it’ll stay that way for a while. We get murder, corruption, scandals, and even get to see some old friends from previous cases. One thing of note is that this book is back to the first person point of view, which is something I’m very thankful for.
Characters: Whoosh is back with a bigger role and I have to say that I really do enjoy him as a character. Mulligan is still his wiseass self so he’s a quick runner up. However I have to say that I didn’t expect to find Joseph Deluca being one of my favorite characters in this book. The new characters we meet aren’t part of the scene very much as this book is tying up loose plot threads from the last few books for the most part instead of introducing new characters.
Overall: This is a must read, although you’ll want to read previous entries for context and understanding of many in-book references.
