Bad Times at the El Royale

Good times with Bad Times at the El Royale

Four people walk into a hotel, each with something to hide. Then two people do a podcast about the four people in the hotel. Fortunately, this episode of Argue the Toss has a lower bodycount than Bad Times at the El Royale, the lush neo-noir film from Drew Goddard.

People who listen to Drew & Chella on a regular basis, will know by now that they like noir; they like situational drama; and they also like John Hamm in most things. With that in mind, you may be able to predict how much they enjoyed Bad Times at the El Royale.

So if you’re up for one of those Argue the Toss episodes where they really like a film and spend thirty minutes saying how good it is without spoiling anything, then you are in the right place.  If you’re not sure, just press play and see how you get on. If you don’t like those things, you could listen anyway and then head to the comments to tell them how much you don’t like it when they really like things. Either way, listening is probably the best option.

Chella hails from the UK and joined Gameindustry.com around the year 2000. It was so many moons ago, she can't quite remember. Back then, the only women you saw in the games industry were in bikinis and vertiginous heels at trade shows - oh how times have changed, kind of. Chella started as a humble reviewer, but soon became our European Correspondent and keeps us on top of industry happenings across the Pond. She tends to like the weird Japanese games we've never heard of, so that's good for making us look all-encompassing and stuff. Chella does like games, so don't be fooled by the copious amount of columns devoted to bemoaning the lack of variety in the industry. When she's not surfing (the sea, not the internet) or camping up mountains, Chella likes a good action RPG (especially if it's sci-fi), anything with a good narrative and like we said, the weirder the better. She's also a regular in the GiN Lounge, but that's just because we like her accent.
