Hey all I’m back with another new series for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s Amazing Village Building Volume 01 by Kuzu Shichio!

Plot: Where Fushi no Kami is a heart-warming tale of a boy with memories of a past life determining to uplift society from the dark ages, Amazing Village Building is very different. The main character is a kid, who acts like one most of the time, and is gifted with the seemingly useless talent of “Village Building” instead of something spectacularly powerful like “Holy Knight”. So when he gets banished to the boonies it turns out his gift isn’t so useless after all? Who could’ve guessed.

Characters: Luke Albert is our lead character and while he’s terribly young and naïve the rest of the cast is pretty interesting. Nema is probably one of my favorite side characters because of just how out of place she is. She’s an old lady who looks like your favorite grandmother who gains the skill “Torturer”. Yeah, cue nightmare fuel and hilarity. In all honesty Selen is probably my favorite main character, but that’s because she’s a young woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone and goes after what she wants and damn the fallout. Luke gets a pass on the clueless harem protagonist given that all the women interested in him are older and he’s still just a kid.

Overall: Honestly it’s pretty cliché, but it wasn’t too terrible that I couldn’t stand reading it through. I may or may not decide to continue reading further entries, but that depends on how desperate (read: bored) I get.

For those who like: Fantasy, Nation Building, Action, Adventure, Romance.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
