This week for Sensate Saturday I’m covering one of my favorite historical fantasy series of all time. It’s all about Samurai Deeper Kyo by Akimine Kamijyo!

Plot Synopsis: Set in Tokugawa Japan, this manga begins by following Shiina Yuya, a bounty hunter searching for her brother’s murderer. However, Yuya quickly meets a medicine peddler named Mibu Kyoshiro, who isn’t all that he seems to be.

Plot: The plot of this series is great, and I love the twist we get in the first few chapters. I won’t spoil it except to say it’s quite well done.

Characters: Benitora is probably my favorite character, but the entire cast is freaking amazing. They are all varied and some are even based off real people that lived.

Art: The art is great, probably up there with any Jump title.

Overall: This is a series you ought to read, it’s quite good.

For those who like: Romance, Action, Mysteries, Historical Fantasy, Excellent Plot, Amazing Cast of Characters, Fantastic Artwork.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
