Hey all, I’m back with a film from 2000 that’s based on a true story for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s Erin Brockovich.
Plot: The plot of this film revolves around the story of a woman named Erin Brockovich and is mostly accurate according to the people in question. For those who haven’t seen this film, Erin Brockovich is a biographical drama about an unemployed single mother who lands a clerical job at a small law firm. With no formal legal training, Erin helps build a case by exposing how a powerful utility company’s actions harmed a community’s health.
Casting: The stars of this film are Julia Roberts as Brockovich and the late Albert Finney as the lawyer Edward L. Masry. The rest of the cast is good, but honestly Julia Roberts steals the show.
Cinematography: The special effects are nonexistent given the nature of this film. But the film is so good that it does not need them.
Music: The music is fitting for the film but forgettable at least for me. I was much more focused on the story.
Overall: One of the better films made about a true story you can watch, and if you haven’t you ought to give it a try. Given the many awards the film has received, you will probably enjoy it.
For those who like: True stories, legal dramas, and an excellent cast.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
