Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with this week being a look at one of the previous season’s new shows. It’s my “Liar, Liar” Episode 01 Impressions.

Plot: This first episode is all about introducing us to a transfer student named Hiroto and another student Sarasa, both of whom attend a prestigious academy located on an island where everyone is ranked by stars. The top ranked students at the academy are colloquially called seven star students. Frankly it’s an odd mix of strategy and trickery all tucked into a school life anime that also has some lighter moments.

Art: The art is pretty great and is done by a studio I haven’t seen a series from before called Geek Toys. It’s not up to my gold standard of ufotable, but it was pretty good, a bit ahead of the median at the very least.

Music: The musical score is very fitting to the first episode, with it building the tension very well in the dramatic moments and being more serene at other points. It’s not particularly memorable, but it’s not terrible either.

Overall: A solid first episode in a series that looks highly intriguing and one I would recommend everyone give a chance if they can.

For those who like: School Life, Action, Drama, Comedy, Good Characters, and Great Artwork.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
