Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with a series from last year’s Spring season. It’s my “Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective” Episode 01 Impressions.

Plot: This is a medical mystery series adapted from novels, and it’s pretty great if that’s your jam. This first episode introduces our main characters Takanashi Yu, an assistant at Tenikai hospital, and Ameku Takao, his boss who happens to love mysteries. I won’t go into it too much because that’d ruin the fun, but this first episode is awesome for mystery lovers.

Characters: Takao steals the show for the most part, but that’s not surprising given she’s the female lead. Yu on the other hand is very much swept up by her antics and plays the Watson to her Sherlock. The rest of the cast is good, but again Takao steals the show for this first episode.

Art: The art was pretty great, which isn’t a surprise given Project No. 9 animated the series.

Music: The music was not particularly memorable but very fitting for a mystery series.

Overall: A great first episode in a very good mystery series.

For those who like: Mysteries, Medical Mysteries, Drama, Intrigue, Great Plots, and a Fun Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
