(a.k.a. Hey Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed II is NOT a PS3 Exclusive!)

Before I get this started, let me put up my anti-fanboy "Flame Shield."
GameFly, God bless them. If it weren't for them I would either be broke, have all my games traded in, or not be able to play all the great titles that come out (and still have yet to come out) this holiday season.

Just this past Monday, they struck again, and sent me a text that they were shipping me Assassin's Creed II on Xbox 360"BEFORE THE GAME WAS EVEN LAUNCHED! Now I know I had my problems with GameFly not stocking enough games before, but lately they've been coming through in terms of new releases. In fact, they are even going as far as selling new releases rather than renting them out. A lot has improved since a few months ago after the Angry Joe Show called out GameFly in his "What the (censored)" commentary.

So since then I have received Assassin's Creed II, a brand new mint condition out of the box copy, and have been enjoying it a lot more than the previous game in the series. It feels less repetitive and not force fed. The main protagonist Ezio is more fleshed out than Altair was, and for once, I can finally deal with those annoying bards (the sequel's equivalent to those darn beggars) by just tossing 10 florins around. Talk about a huge relief.

In fact, it's turning into one of the better Xbox 360 games of the year. I'm not sure if it will make my Top 5 when both myself and Kelly do our annual picks, but at least it will be getting an Honorable Mention.

Oh wait a minute. Did I say one of the better "Xbox 360" games? Well"yes. However, if you check out the television ads, you would be surprised. In fact I'm sure you'd all be asking, "Isn't Assassin's Creed II a PlayStation3 exclusive?"

It would make sense. If you look at the ads, there is NO mention at all about the game coming out for Xbox 360, just the PlayStation 3. All because Sony paid to get exclusive advertising rights for AC II, and to me, that's just misleading.

Then again, remember this is not the only time they have done this. Remember Ghostbusters? Remember how here in the States it was available on both the 360 and PS3 (as well as the Wii) but in the UK it was only available as a timed PS3 exclusive (thanks to Sony obtaining the publishing rights?) In addition, remember how all the critics and reviewers proved the visual quality in the 360 version was superior? Well it's happening again.

Taking a look at the aggregate scores on GameRankings, the Xbox 360's score for Assassin's Creed II is a 92.06%, while the PS3 comes in at a 90.56%.*

In addition, another site I frequently access, Lens of Truth, presented their latest Head2Head analysis, in which they picked the Xbox 360 version due to its smoother frame rate and less consistent frame tearing. Now I know the PS3 fanboys are going to go off on me (again) over my comments here, but if you look at the stats on both sites, it's not bias, it's called reality!

But that gets me back to the advertising, is Sony again afraid they are going to lose to a higher rated 360 counterpart? Is that why they are making the game's television ads only mention PlayStation 3 and not Xbox 360? I just don't get why the ads can't show BOTH systems and not make it look like it's a PS3 exclusive.

And yes, fanboys, I am aware that "M$," as you call them, did the same thing for Modern Warfare 2, even going as far as selling a special edition Xbox 360 console. They aren't completely innocent over this matter either! It's just as misleading.

*Note, aggregate scores are accurate as of 3pm EST on Thursday, November 19th.
