Steam Box and Piston Set Sights on Console Market

By: Chella Ramanan Xi3 has announced a dedicated machine, bringing Steam games to televisions. Dubbed Piston, the cube is apparently the size of a grapefruit and has been developed in partnership with Valve. For once, it turns out that the internet rumours of a fabled ‘Steam Box’ were true, which could put more pressure on the next generation of consoles. Apart from its sit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand size, the most notable thing about Piston is that it’s easy to upgrade. With three card components, users can easily swap cards, giving the system longevity and also giving traditional consoles a run for their money. … Continue reading Steam Box and Piston Set Sights on Console Market

Syrian War Game Rejected By Apple

A game that explores the Syrian civil war, Endgame:Syria, has been rejected by Apple due to App Store guidelines forbidding games that "solely target a specific race, culture, a real government or corporation, or any other real entity." Apple says that Endgame:Syria, which explores a real news event and aims to show users the range of factions and peoples involved in the situation, fell into this category and so was rejected. The game’s designer, Tomas Rawlings takes up the story, "This decision is a shame really as it makes it hard to talk about the real world. All THQ Game Properties To Be Sold Off

For a while it looked like bankrupt publisher THQ would sell its entire company to Clearwater Capital, but investors blocked that plan. Now instead, according to Distressed Debt Investing, each individual game property will be auctioned off separately on January 22. This will give THQ’s creditors more of a chance to make up more money than the general sale probably would have, with other publishers bidding against each other for the cream of the THQ crop. It could also give fans of games such as Saints Row, Metro and Homefront the chance to see their games live on in new … Continue reading All THQ Game Properties To Be Sold Off
