Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

Hopefully most of you are getting ready to overstuff yourselves on holiday food and holiday cheer. Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday where we all eat too much, some of us drink too much, and a good time is had by all — at least in theory.

MMMM. Got to love that extra helping of gravy. It goes great with video games.

The other cool thing about Thanksgiving is that most people get a nice long weekend were we can take part in our favorite pastime, namely gaming. So in the interest of giving thanks proper-like, some of the GiN Lounge crew are taking time away from all that to talk about what games they are most thankful for as the winter holiday season gets off to a fine start. And if you are a gamer, there is actually quite a lot to be thankful for in 2014, and plenty of great games just over the horizon.

Happy turkey day everyone! Don’t over indulge too much, unless it’s with your new favorite games.

John has spent his journalism career covering just about everything, from small-town meetings and crime scenes to Capitol Hill and the U.S. Congress. He got his start writing about games and technology with a computer column called On the Chip Side, which grew to more than 1 million in circulation and ran in newspapers across several states. Today, John is an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Newsweek and many other publications, and he writes a regular technology and government column for Nextgov/FCW and hosts security and educational webinars for FedInsider. He still loves disappearing into games, whether that means crawling through Baldur’s Gate dungeons deep into the night or planning one more big offensive in the latest wargame.
