Publisher Don’t Nod Partnering With War Child Charity on Gerda: A Flame in Winter Campaign

DON’T NOD, independent video games publisher and developer, is proud to announce its partnership with War Child. The UK-based charity works tirelessly in helping children who are suffering in war zones and conflict areas worldwide.

The Gerda: A Flame in Winter – War Child Charity Digital Edition will be available on October 12 on Steam for PC to commemorate Day of the Girl, a campaign focused on bringing awareness to the issues that girls and young women in war zones face around the world, to advocate strongly for their human rights, and to raise crucial funding to support them. This new edition of the game contains the full game, the original soundtrack composed by Jakob Støvring Hansen, and six exclusive digital paintings of game environments. DON’T NOD is donating 20% of proceeds of the Gerda: A Flame in Winter – War Child Charity Digital Edition directly to War Child.

Tomas Talman-Martinez, Gaming Partnerships Manager at War Child UK shares: “We are really excited to be able to partner with DON’T NOD and Gerda for Day of the Girl. Gerda’s journey is one shared by many girls living in conflict zones, and alongside DON’T NOD we look forward to not only telling her story, based on a real girl living during World War II, but also to raising vital funds to help protect, educate and stand up for children living through wars today. Our hope for the partnership is that through the medium of gaming we can highlight and address the needs and challenges millions of girls face and amplify their voices this International Day of the Girl.”

This partnership is important and a natural step for DON’T NOD and the developer PortaPlay. Gerda: A Flame in Winter was created to shine a light on one young woman’s experiences in occupied Denmark in World War II. Gerda Larsen’s story is inspired by a real person, the grandmother of PortaPlay’s CEO and Creative Director, Hans Von Knut Skovfoged.

The Gerda: A Flame in Winter – War Child Charity Digital Edition is part of our contribution to War Child’s work in helping civilian children and young people in conflict areas.

Since its release, Gerda: A Flame in Winter has garnered critical acclaim from media outlets and individuals alike.
