Newly Announced Salt and Soil Will Let Players Guide A Frontier Family Across Three Centuries

Developer DelosX has announced Salt and Soil: A Frontier Family Sim. It’s a PC management simulation planned for release in 2026 on the Steam platform.

Salt and Soil follows one family across three centuries of life on the American frontier. Rather than focusing on a single settlement or short slice of history, the game challenges players to guide multiple generations as they inherit not only land and property, but also relationships, debts, conflicts and the consequences of choices made by those who came before them.

According to the developer, Salt and Soil will be “a minimalist roguelite colony sim about one family on the American frontier from 1609 to 1900. Build a homestead, survive the lean years, and pass the ranch down through the generations. Every year ends with a family council shaped by what really happened.”

That long-form structure gives Salt and Soil a legacy-driven approach to management gameplay. Each generation must deal with the opportunities and burdens left behind by the previous one, creating a simulation where family history, survival and social consequences all shape the player’s path forward.
