Characters Revealed For Firefly’s New IP MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures

Stronghold creators Firefly Studios are preparing for the Q4 Early Access release of its new character switching, class based dungeon crawler with the release of a new hero trailer. ‘The Ogre’ as he is simply known is the first spirit form players will acquire in-game and as a tank provides new strategic options. An ancient force of nature returned to life for the battle against Death’s armies, the Ogre makes up for his slow speed with the ability to control and absorb damage from large mobs:

“A bruiser would be the kind of archetype The Ogre fits into” said Jack Massey, Programmer at Firefly Studios. “Obviously he can take a lot of hits, but he’s got a great AOE ability too in the Rock Fall which is really satisfying. He can clear out a whole area of admittedly weaker enemies when needed, when he’s up against it.”

This new MetaMorph trailer spotlights three of five special abilities that players will be able to give the Ogre in the full game, as part of their unique loadout for each dungeon. The Knockback Smash very much does what it says on the tin, allowing players to crowd control all but the toughest opponents using the Ogre’s colossal fist. Rock Fall send tremors through the dungeon, breaking loose heavy boulders from above to crush weaker enemies when surrounded. Lastly the Ogre’s Roar ability harnesses ancient magic to freeze enemies, holding each threat in place and leaving them open to follow up attacks. Each spirit form’s powers are designed to be used in combination with each other, switching between different abilities and heroes at will to discover the most effective combos.

An original title developed by a small internal team at Firefly, MetaMorph: Dungeon Creatures is the developer’s first ever action game. Sharing a great deal of strategy DNA with the Stronghold series of ‘castle sim’ games, MetaMorph is also Firefly’s first ever release on Early Access. The British developer will be working alongside its core community to develop a fun action-strategy game for both Stronghold fans and the passionate audience of Early Access gamers on Steam. After the successful prototyping and public alphas for Stronghold Kingdoms, Firefly has every confidence that this similar style of community co-development will result in another addictive, successful PC game on Steam.
