Hey all, I’m back with a question for you all for this week’s Video Game Tuesday. It’s all about mega publishers.

Mega Publishers?:  Microsoft just finalized its $69 billion deal to purchase Call of Duty franchise publisher Activision Blizzard, and it also recently released Starfield from Bethesda Softworks, which is another of its acquired developers. Sony has also been acquiring development studios such as Bungie and Firewalk Studios. With the biggest names in the industry like Sony and Microsoft buying up publishers and developers, I am wondering how everyone feels about it.

Why?: Well I’m torn myself. Console exclusive games are popular. All of the major consoles have successful console exclusives with examples like PlayStation with Ghost of Tsushima and the Horizon series, Nintendo Switch having the Zelda and Pokemon series, and Xbox with the Gears of War and Fable series. Console exclusives are good for driving the sales of consoles, but it’s a shame that they are only released on certain platforms.

So, My Question Is This: How do you all feel about major game developers being bought up by some of the biggest names in the industry like Sony and Microsoft? Will this ultimately help or hinder the game industry and its players?

Please leave your answers in the comments section below. I look forward to seeing what you all think about this.
