Hey all, I’m back with the first volume in another Isekai light novel series that features pretty fun mechanics for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s “Survival in Another World With My Mistress Volume 01” by Ryuto.

Plot: This first volume of “Survival in Another World With My Mistress”, or as it’s better known in Japan as “Goshujin-sama to Yuku Isekai Survival,” is as evidenced by both its full title and how I described it as above, an Isekai series. The difference in this particular series is the fact that the main character, Kousuke, wakes up in a forest after being transported from Earth to another world, and finds he has the ability to treat the reality in this new world like Minecraft and other such survival video games he had played on Earth.

Needless to say, shenanigans occur and while trying to survive in the middle of nowhere he’s taken as a servant by a dark elf named Sylphyel. It’s a very short-lived situation due to numerous factors, and mostly was done to protect Kousuke from angry demi-humans in the region who were oppressed by the humans in the area that had destroyed Sylphyel’s homeland of Merinard a couple of decades before. I’d normally not explain that much and leave it up to the reader to find out to avoid spoilers but given the title this series has I figured I’d be a bit proactive in making sure people weren’t too offended. The rest of the story is just as great, with Kousuke exploiting the hell out of his new abilities to create wonders like a never depleting well of water because of how water source blocks in Minecraft work.

Characters: Melty is probably my favorite character because she’s incredibly no nonsense and gets stuff done. All of the characters are great, but Sylphy and Kousuke are the standouts in this volume.

Overall: A very entertaining first entry in an Isekai series that lets the main character have abilities such as crafting like in the world of Minecraft.

For those who like: Minecraft, Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Romance, Drama, Good Plot, and Great Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
