Hey all, I’m back with the third entry in Mira’s adventures for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s “Pupil of the Wise Man Volume Three” by Ryuusen Hirotsugu.
Plot: As a reminder from the first book, this is an Isekai series of a sorts. It deals with a man in his twenties named Kagami, a top ranked player of the VRMMO Ark Earth Online who was unexpectedly transported to its world. He formerly played as Danblf Gandadore who was one of the preeminent magic using characters in the game.
Unfortunately for him, Kagami had used a cash shop item to create his ideal female character like he had made an ideal male character with Danblf right before he was transported to the new world. So now he is a she (Mira), and it’s been 30 years from the date that she remembers logging on.
This volume starts with Mira traveling back to Lunatic Lake after her unsuccessful search for her old friend and peer, Soul Howl, in the dungeon of Nebropolis. It’s a fun novel as we get to see more of Mira strutting her stuff, and she even begins to grow in this volume as she continues to experience the world based on Ark Earth Online she was transported to.
Characters: We don’t get to see a ton of new characters, but we do meet a few. Hinata is my favorite of those we do meet in this volume, but overall, most of this volume is focused on Mira continuing to grow past the old limits of Ark Earth Online.
Overall: An excellent third entry in an awesome series.
