Hey all, I’m back with the first entry in a series I swore I covered before but apparently didn’t for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s Michael Blaker’s Translation Necessary Thursday: “She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man Volume One” by Ryuusen Hirotsugu.

Plot: This is an Isekai series of a sort. It focuses mostly on Sakamori Kagami, formerly a man in his twenties who played as Danblf Gandadore who’s one of the preeminent magic using characters in a VRMMO called Ark Earth Online. Kagami was one of Ark Earth Online’s top players. Unfortunately for him, he used a cash shop item to create his ideal female character like he made an ideal male character with Danblf right before he was unexpectedly transported to Ark Earth Online’s world. So now he is a she in that world, and it’s been 30 years from the date that she remembers logging on. She tries to convince people that she is Danblf’s pupil and takes on the name Mira. It’s a wonderful novel, and I really am surprised I haven’t covered this light novel series yet.
Characters: Mira is the main character, and her learning to be a girl once transported to Ark Earth Online’s world is the main focus of the volume. That isn’t to say we don’t get to meet plenty of other characters, and of them I think Luminaria is one of my favorites since she is one of Mira’s peers as a Wise Man. Overall, all of the characters are great.
Overall: A very fun series. While it was adapted to an anime, it wasn’t done really well, which isn’t surprising given how much mental pondering Mira does.
For those who like: Isekai, Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Great Plots, and Good Characters.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
