Michael Blaker’s Movie Monday Featuring The Secret of NIMH

Hey all, I’m back with another film from the 80’s for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s The Secret of NIMH.

Plot: The plot is interesting, and the secret of NIMH itself is also interesting, but it’s still a children’s animated movie so don’t expect anything too deep.

Casting: Elizabeth Hartman voices the main character Mrs. Brisby, and Wil Wheaton voices Martin Brisby. The rest of the characters are just as well cast.

Artwork: The art is pretty great given this was done in the time of hand drawn animation of the early 80’s. I’ve heard it rivals Disney’s works, which I won’t disagree with in this case.

Music: It fit the movie and was very well done being the very first soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith for an animated movie.

Overall: A fun animated movie and one of the classics from the early 80’s.

For those who like: Fantasy, Animal Main Characters, Interesting Plot, and a Great Cast.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
