Hey all, I’m back with another new LitRPG series for this week’s Bookish Wednesday. It’s CivCEO by Andrew Karevik.

Plot: This is an Isekai/LitRPG book series, though I will admit it starts off in a unique way in that the main character Charles Morris is an older man who is a very successful businessman attending a fundraiser when he’s suddenly whisked off to a new world by a goddess. Unfortunately for him, he screwed up by getting in the way of the intended hero of the story, so she just dumps him somewhere in the woods with no way back. This series takes more inspiration from 4X style games like Civilization than RPGs like Final Fantasy or Skyrim.

Characters: Charles is a pretty interesting main character in that he is by no means inexperienced at leading companies and managing finances, but he is completely out of sorts in a fantasy world. It’s an interesting juxtaposition from most LitRPG leads who are the exact opposite. The rest of the characters are okay, but really Charles is the main character of this series and it shows.

Overall: If you really enjoy LitRPGs and/or 4X style games you might be interested in reading CivCEO and its later books.

For those who like: LitRPGs, Fantasy, 4X Games, Decent Plot, and a Solid Main Character.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
