Hey all I’m back with the first series of Winter 2022 for this week’s Anime Sunday. It’s my Leadale Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot: The plot is pretty standard, woman dies in a hospital while on life support and is transported to the world of the game she was playing at the time. That sounds a lot more dark than this series actually is. The entire story is incredibly light-hearted based off the couple of entries of the original source material I read a while back.

That being said a lot of what’s going on in the story isn’t explained in this adaptation so while I enjoyed it, a bunch of context is missing. For example the fact that Cayna is one of a very few players to completely master every skill in the game and become a very rare Skill Master, capable of teaching anyone any skill for free. This very important fact is completely glossed over in the first episode.

Characters: Cayna is our main character and very definitely steals the spotlight of this first episode pretty much. The rest of the cast we are introduced to is good, but I’m unsure of how much we’ll be seeing of them.

Art: The artwork is pretty decent, but is certainly not at the level of ufotable quality.

Music: The music fits this first episode pretty well, but isn’t that memorable.

Overall: An okay first episode, but I worry that this adaptation is going to leave out a ton of very important context. We’ll see if later episodes fix this mistake, I hope so as I really enjoyed the lightheartedness of this series.

For those who like: Fantasy, LitRPGs, Action, Adventure, Comedy.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
