Hey all I’m back with another new series from the latest season for this week’s Anime Sunday. It’s my Chaos;Child Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot Synopsis: Set in Shibuya in 2015, six years after the events of Chaos;Head, where an earthquake nearly leveled the area. It follows a group of high school students who survived the earthquake; among them is Miyashiro Takuru , who is a senior in high school and president of the school’s newspaper club, and whose family died in the earthquake. He is accompanied by his childhood friend Onoe Serika  and his foster sister Kurusu Nono .

Plot: This first episode is beyond messed up, it really is quite confusing and it doesn’t help that it was right after a 23 minute episode recapping the entire first series Chaos;Head. That probably put me off the most, but beyond that I really didn’t like the huge amounts of violence the recap had. It was a bit disturbing, and frankly I wasn’t expecting it. That being said if I had the opportunity to play the original VN of Chaos;Head and Chaos;Child I probably wouldn’t be as shocked or confused. That is a story for another day though.

Characters: Takuru is a pretty mysterious main character, but beyond that I didn’t really understand him in this first episode. Maybe later episodes will improve him, but frankly I was more confused than anything else. The rest of the cast is pretty small, essentially just the newspaper club for this first episode.

Art: The art is great, but again wasn’t expecting that recap episode to be quite that violent. If you get queazy easily this might be a bad series to watch.

Music: The music was pretty good, it fit the series very well.

Overall: This is off to a rough start, I’ll give it a tentative go ahead, but proceed with caution if you get upset over violence.

For those who like: Mysteries, Drama, Slice of Life, Supernatural?, Science Adventure Series, Great Artwork, Fantastic Music.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or large amounts of violence packed into a recap episode.
