Nickelodeon Puts $100 Million Into Casual Games

MTV Networks' Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group today announced its commitment to invest $100 million over the next two years in development, distribution and creation of casual gaming titles, sites and platforms. Blokus Coming To PC

Funkitron, a widely respected publisher of casual games, today announced a partnership agreement with Sekkoia, the publisher of the popular board game Blokus, to develop an official version of the game for the PC platform. The strategy game has been a worldwide hit, winning almost all the existing awards in the industry since its debut in 2000, including the Mensa Select Award in 2003 and the 2004 Teacher's Choice Award. Microsoft Corp. today announced that Don Mattrick, a former president at Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), will lead the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), which includes overseeing the Xbox and Games for Windows businesses. Sony Slashes PS3 Price By $100

In a move to boost lackluster sales, Sony has decided to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 in the United States by $100, bringing the price for the 60 gigabyte model down to $499 from its previous $599 price tag. "Our initial expectation is that sales should double at a minimum," Jack Tretton, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America said.
