I’m covering a decidedly odd series for this week’s Manga Monday. It’s Medaka Box by Nisio Isin!

Plot Synopsis: The plot follows Medaka Kurokami, a charismatic and attractive first-year Hakoniwa Academy student who is elected Student Council President with 98% of the vote. She institutes a suggestion box, and with the help with her childhood friend Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, addresses these requests in her unconventional manner.

Plot: The plot is pretty insane, but that is no surprise when you learn that the author is the same person who wrote the Monogatari series. I liked the Abnormal arc quite a bit myself.

Characters: Medaka herself is a bit of a miss for me personally, but my favorite characters are Zenkichi, Kumogawa and Anshin’in. They are all excellently written characters and I really do love them. I enjoy the rest of the cast as well, but they are overshadowed by the awesomeness of the three I mentioned above.

Art: The art is great, and meets the standards of Weekly Shonen Jump easily.

Overall: This is a great series, and you should give it a read, if only to read the amazing characters I mentioned above.

For those who like: Action, Slice of Life, Urban Fantasy, Badass Characters, Insane Plots, Great Artwork, Nisio Isin.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, but how can you hate all of that?
