Set in a harsh world powered by Elios, a resource tied to both life and death, Dunebound Tactics puts players in command of a desperate caravan crossing the Sands in search of Haven, a rumored sanctuary beyond the dunes. Elios powers the engine that keeps the caravan moving, but it also exists inside every survivor aboard the sand-ship. When battle takes its toll, players may need to decide whether to heal wounded crew members or extract the resource from them, leaving those survivors as husks so the caravan can continue.
That difficult resource pressure carries into combat, where the battlefield is not just something players navigate but something they can reshape. Players can destroy cover, move terrain, summon ice pillars to block enemy movement, create explosive obstacles, lay mines, set traps and use caravan skills from off the battlefield to support the party or clear a path forward.
The result is a tactical experience built around making the ground itself part of the fight. Instead of simply taking cover and trading shots, players will need to think about positioning, terrain control and how each turn can create opportunities for the next one.
Each attempt across the Sands can also feed future runs. Wrecks from previous caravans can yield modules and sometimes survivors, while dynamic world generation reshapes the journey each time. Players will be able to build crews from 15 classes, 16 traits and more than 50 modules, then face 38 enemy types as the Imperials and Arcanists battle over what remains of the world.
A demo for Dunebound Tactics is available now on Steam. The developers say the demo has been rebuilt around player feedback, with reworked encounters, smarter enemy AI and a full balancing pass.
Dunebound Tactics is scheduled to launch on Steam on Sept. 14, 2026.
