The International Dota 2 Unforgettable Emotions are Waiting for You

The international Dota 2 Tournament

The International is the main goal of all players who play Dota professionally and the main event for all fans of this cybersport discipline. Throughout history, we have seen nine The Internationals. The tenth tournament was supposed to take place in August 2020 in Sweden. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, it had to be postponed for a year. But even here, there were some pitfalls, so TI10 has moved again to October 2021. As VALVE says, this is the final date of the tournament, so we just have to wait and hold our breath. TI 2021 will happen, and that’s the most important thing in this situation.

Date and location of The International 10

As already mentioned, after the “coronavirus” postponement, The International 10 was supposed to be held in early August in Sweden. However, at the end of June, VALVE announced that the organizers had problems with the country’s government, which refused to equate cybersports with the official spot. This means that players, talents, and organizers won’t be able to get special sports visas that would allow them to come to Sweden without problems.

In other words, it was possible to hold the Int in Sweden, except that all participants would have to travel there on their own. Some of them would have been able to do it, and some would not have been allowed across the border. Of course, it’s impossible to hold a major eSports tournament in such conditions. VALVE tried several times to get permission to host The International X, but the government of Sweden refused. In the end, the decision was made to change the venue of the tournament.

There were many other options to host TI10, but VALVE chose Romania. The main reason for this choice was the fact that in this country is located the company PGL – a well-known tournament organizer, which will be engaged in the organization of The International 10. As a rule, this TO succeeds at the highest level.

The International 2021 will take place in Bucharest (the capital city of Romania) from October 7 to 17, 2021.

The International 10 prize pool

VALVE has come up with a very clever system so that they can host the biggest tournament in the world of eSports every year and still spend almost no money on it. Initially, the prize pool for The International 10 was only $1.6 million, but that amount has increased due to the game’s users who bought Battle Passes last season. 25% of every sale went directly into the TI10 prize pool. As a result, the prize pool for The International 10 grew to $40 million. This is a record amount of prize money for a tournament, not only in Dota but in all of the eSports.

Format of The International 10

There will be 18 teams in The International 10. Before the tournament, they will be randomly divided into two groups, in which they will compete with each other.

Group Stage (10-7/10)

  • Participants have been divided into two groups of nine teams each
  • All matches will be played in a best-of-2 format;
  • Teams ranked 1-4 will advance to the top-seeded playoffs;
  • Teams that place 5-8 will advance to the lower playoff grid;
  • Participants who finish in ninth place in the group stage will leave the tournament.

Playoffs (12.10 – 17.10)

  • The first-round matches in the lower net will be best-of-1, the grand final will be best-of-5, and all other matches will be best-of-3.

Participants of The International 10

Traditionally there will be 18 teams at The International. Twelve of them will make it to the tournament after scoring the highest points during the DPC cycle. It consisted of two regional league seasons and two international majors. The remaining six teams made it through regional qualifying: each region was given only one quota for a spot on TI 10.

Just recently we learned the names of 18 teams that will participate in The International this year. Some of them are undoubtedly the strongest in the world, while others were admitted to the main tournament of the year by chance: because of the strange system of the points distribution, when the first place in their region was given the same number of DPC points as the victory in the majors. Because of this approach, The International 10 may be the Int with the weakest roster of teams, but it’s too early to judge. Now bet Dota 2 real money becomes relevant. Every player has the opportunity not only to enjoy the tournament but also to earn good money.
