System Shock 3 Confirmed

OtherSide Entertainment has officially announced that it is working on System Shock 3. Last week hackers cracked OtherSide’s teaser website (www.othersidetease.com) ,  revealing information that hinted at a possible sequel and now the developers have come clean with plans for a long-awaited sequel.

SHODAN, the AI from the original System Shock series is back and mocked hackers via the site.

Fans will be pleased to hear that many of the original members of the System Shock team are back, including lead developer, Paul Neurath. He’s joined by senior artist on System Shock 2, Nate Wells, with original System Shock concept artist, Robb Waters also returning. In addition, the original voice of SHODAN is back, with Terri Brosius, who more recently brought her talent to Dishonored.

Several years ago, OtherSide secured the exclusive IP rights to all future versions of System Shock. The developer recently struck a partnership deal with Night Dive Studios, who owns the System Shock trademark, allowing OtherSide to use the System Shock name for the sequel.

No news of a possible release date or which platforms to expect it on, but fans can register to the teaser site for news.

Chella hails from the UK and joined Gameindustry.com around the year 2000. It was so many moons ago, she can't quite remember. Back then, the only women you saw in the games industry were in bikinis and vertiginous heels at trade shows - oh how times have changed, kind of. Chella started as a humble reviewer, but soon became our European Correspondent and keeps us on top of industry happenings across the Pond. She tends to like the weird Japanese games we've never heard of, so that's good for making us look all-encompassing and stuff. Chella does like games, so don't be fooled by the copious amount of columns devoted to bemoaning the lack of variety in the industry. When she's not surfing (the sea, not the internet) or camping up mountains, Chella likes a good action RPG (especially if it's sci-fi), anything with a good narrative and like we said, the weirder the better. She's also a regular in the GiN Lounge, but that's just because we like her accent.
