Morita Shogi Hits iPad

TAITO Corporation (TAITO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd., today announced the release of its MORITA SHOGI HD App for iPad on the App Store. The app, based on a Japanese chess simulation game, has been specially optimized to take full advantage of iPad’s high quality display and innovative Multi-Touch user interface.

MORITA SHOGI HD features the famed Morita Logic engine designed by Kazurou Morita, winner of the World Computer Shogi Championship. This unparalleled engine allows the opponent in the app to respond to the player’s every move in a wide variety of ways, resulting in a challenging and authentic Japanese chess experience. Match difficulty settings may also be fine-tuned to suit all levels of player experience-from neophyte to expert-making the game both enjoyable and approachable.

Not only has MORITA SHOGI HD App been redesigned to suit iPad’s special characteristics, the AI logic system, graphics, and sounds are all presented in the highest possible quality. The app offers a gameplay experience and sense of realism that build upon that of the iPhone edition and the amount of time required for the app to decide its next move has been reduced, resulting in a speedy, fast paced match.

"With iPad’s gorgeous screen, MORITA SHOGI HD App is the closest you can come to a genuine Japanese chess match without actually breaking out a real shogi board and tiles," said TAITO’s senior producer Akihiro Nara.

The MORITA SHOGI HG App for iPad is available for US$3.99 from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
