Full Metal Sergeant 2 is a pixel-art strategy and management game where you play as a drill instructor. It’s available on the Steam platform.
You manage a boot camp, train recruits, and after twelve weeks deploy them into tactical, turn-based combat missions. It is the sequel to the original Full Metal Sergeant game, which GiN reviewed a few years ago. The original title earned an impressive 4 out of 5 GiN Gems.
In Full Metal Sergeant 2 you’re again a hellish drill instructor. Your mission is to transform raw recruits into specialized war machines. The game is divided into 12 weeks. Each week you’ll be given some training points. Use them to train your recruits with a variety of different trainings taken from real military camp. Get rid of those negative traits.
Mold their minds and bodies, instill discipline, and hone their combat skills. After training, you will take them to war, and your success in training will become life and death for these green recruits. This is especially true because the main highlight for this sequel is a completely new turn-based battle system. The key is to strategically utilize the unique abilities of each soldier’s specialization to gain a tactical advantage.
