Bandai Namco Cancelling Tekken and Soulcalibur ESports Events due to Coronavirus

After much deliberation and consideration, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment has made the decision to reschedule upcoming qualifier rounds of the TEKKEN World Tour 2020 (TWT2020) and SOULCALIBUR World Tour 2020 (SCWT2020) events, respectively. This decision has been made in response to international travel restrictions and the possible contagion factor for Coronavirus (COVID-19) at large public gatherings. The health and safety of tournament competitors, staff, and audience members is our top priority and this delay in holding official qualifying rounds for both esports tours will hopefully provide an opportunity for official tournament series qualifiers to take place later in the year.

Effective immediately, the following events have been removed as official qualifying rounds for the TEKKEN World Tour 2020 (TWT2020) and SOULCALIBUR World Tour 2020 (SCWT2020) events:

TEKKEN World Tour 2020 (TWT2020)

• Norcal Regionals (San Jose, CA – 4/10/20) This event’s organizers currently intend to proceed with an event at the presently scheduled time and place, but not as a TWT qualifying round and without BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment’s involvement.

• The Mixup (Lyon, France – 4/18/20) – Planned to be rescheduled, date TBA

SOULCALIBUR World Tour 2020 (SCWT2020)

• Final Round (Atlanta, GA – 3/20/20) This event’s organizers currently intend to proceed with an event at the presently scheduled time and place, but not as a SCWT qualifying round and without BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment’s involvement.

• The Mixup (Lyon, France – 4/18/20) – Planned to be rescheduled, date TBA

We are actively monitoring and evaluating COVID-19 developments and will strive to provide updates on new officially-sanctioned tournament dates, finals qualification criteria, and points tallies as soon as possible.
