Hey all, I’m back with a movie tie-in game from 2000 for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Blues Brothers 2000 on the Nintendo 64.
Plot: This revolves around Elwood, the main character, getting his band back together right after breaking out of prison first. Honestly, the plot is pretty bad.
Gameplay: This is a poorly made platformer in that the story that drives it just sucks. The platforming itself wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t great either. Especially since it had to compete with games like Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie.
Art: The graphics have aged extremely poorly but given the era of the game, that’s not a surprise.
Music: The music for Blues Brothers 2000 was appropriate for it, and probably the only decent thing about it.
Overall: A rather bad game, and there are plenty of better platformers out there like Banjo-Kazooie.
For those who like: The Blue Brothers, Movie Tie-Ins, Platformers, and Music.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above or really bad plots.
