Hey all, I’m back with the second entry in the overpowered warlock Trent’s retired life for this week’s Bookish Wednesday. It’s “Suburban Warlock Book Two” by Noah Layton.

Plot: This second volume is a bit better in terms of plot, but it still has its downsides. That being said, I enjoyed it a bit more than the previous volume because Haviik and Grock are a bit more prominent in it than the prior entry.

Characters: We get to meet more of Trent’s neighbors, which is nice enough, including Sophie’s friend she house-sat for, so it was nice to see more characters who live in the neighborhood. There is a lot of potential in terms of where the plot of the series will go from here.

Even so, Trent continues to be a busybody, which leads to conflicts with the local junkyard. That part of the second book was pretty amusing.

Overall: A decent enough second entry but not great. Maybe the series is starting to get better?
