Hey all, I’m back with the third entry in the overpowered warlock Trent’s retired life for this week’s Bookish Wednesday. It’s “Suburban Warlock Book Three” by Noah Layton.

Plot: This entry revolves around the fact that Trent thinks something strange is going on in his neighbor’s house after seeing a light flash in all the windows at 3:45 am one morning. What follows is a plot that I really struggle to find anything of note in. It’s not bad, but it’s not that good either.

Honestly, it just reeks of forced contrivance on the author’s part because of Trent’s busybody nature, which while it is in character for Trent, for some reason his increasingly busybody nature just doesn’t sit right with me. I wanted to read this series for less action, not more.

Characters: We get to see one of my favored minor characters named Felgrim reappear in this third book of the series. This is a treat because the crazy old dude is pretty fun, but sadly the rest of the characters are pretty much the same ones we’ve already read about before for most of the volume. Again, Trent is an irritant to me, but I’m fairly certain I just don’t agree with his viewpoint at all when it comes to his idea of “retirement”.

Overall: A decent entry, not bad but not quite great either.
