Valve has officially opened signups for its new Steam Machine, with reservations now live for multiple hardware configurations and bundles through Steam. The compact gaming system is being offered in 512GB and 2TB models, with optional bundles that include a Steam Controller. Valve says the new device is a roughly six-inch cube designed for SteamOS gaming, with support for 4K gaming at 60 FPS using FSR, semi-custom AMD desktop-class hardware, built-in power, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and a whisper-quiet design.
According to Valve, customers can sign up now for the specific Steam Machine model or bundle they want through June 25 at 10 a.m. Pacific. At that point, signups will close and the company will run a one-time randomized reservation process aimed at improving the purchase experience and limiting resellers.
Customers will then be notified whether they have been placed in the reservation queue with a unit held in their name or added to a waitlist for future availability. Valve says the first batch of purchase emails is scheduled to begin going out June 29. Steam Machine orders will ship directly through Steam in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Australia, while KOMODO will handle distribution in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The higher-end 2TB model and its bundle variant will also include two extra faceplates, one in red fabric and one in solid walnut. Pricing varies by territory, with the 512GB model starting at $1,049 in the United States and the 2TB model starting at $1,349. Full pricing, reservation details and hardware information are available now through the official Steam Machine product page and Valve’s Steam Hardware announcement.
