Thousands Set For CPL Tourney

Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL)'s Dallas based annual game tournament and LAN party will award $200,000 in cash prizes to top skilled gamers. The tournament will also be the last official opportunity in America to advance in the $1,000,000 CPL World Tour. In addition to the official videogame competitions, the event will feature endless unofficial tournaments and grudge matches for a wide spectrum of games. The event will take place Wednesday, July 6 through Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the new Gaylord Texan Resort, in Grapevine, Texas.

Thanks to its primary sponsor Intel and co-sponsor NVIDIA, the Dallas CPL competition boasts a huge bevy of cash prizes. More than $200,000 is at stake in the official competitions for Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike (version 1.6), Day of Defeat, WarCraft III and Halo 2. The CPL World Tour competitors will play Painkiller (version 1.64) in a one versus-one deathmatch format.
