Mixm8 is a new virtual world aimed at music lovers being developed by Outso. Mixm8 will deliver value to the mp3 experience which has been diminished through piracy and illegal downloads. In Mixm8 you will be able to meet new friends, organise and attend music gigs and create your own apartment to entertain in and share your musical passions. These individual spaces can be personalized with furniture, décor and works of art. Commitment has already been shown to the current prototype by online shops and holders of back catalogues such as Xpressbeats, Ninja Tune and War Child as well as independent, alternative artists such as Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip.

Outso are launching a micro site 13th January as a forerunner to the virtual world which is due winter 2009.
" Although the virtual world is not yet open we are releasing a micro-site for Mixm8 which will include a news blog, music quiz, music player and forums. We believe in building a community from the early stages so users feel they have had involvement from the very start. This builds quality and encourages game play. Mixm8 will initially target the English speaking teen market but has multinational appeal and will be accessible to the basic internet user.
