Gameloft, Paramount Pictures To Make Beowulf Game

Gameloft, a leading publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures for world-wide rights to the mobile game inspired by the upcoming feature film, "Beowulf" from Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis. Neil Gaiman & Roger Avary adapted the legend for the screen. The film is produced by Steve Starkey, Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. The executive producers are Martin Shafer, Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman. Gameloft will develop, publish and distribute the game in over 75 countries.

Groundbreaking director Robert Zemeckis offers a vision of the "Beowulf" saga that has never been told before. In a legendary time of heroes, the mighty warrior Beowulf battles the demon Grendel and incurs the hellish wrath of the beast's ruthlessly seductive mother. Their epic clash forges the timeless legend of Beowulf. "Beowulf" stars Ray Winstone in the title role and Anthony Hopkins as the corrupt King Hrothgar, as well as John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman and Angelina Jolie as Grendel's mother. Paramount Pictures, in association with Shangri-La Entertainment, Presents an ImageMovers Production of a Robert Zemeckis film, "Beowulf."

"Beowulf is not only one of the greatest legends, but now it will be brought to the silver screen and we're excited to work on the mobile game adaptation," said Michel Guillemot, president, Gameloft. "This is the third project that we have undertaken with Paramount Pictures, so we've established a real foundation to work well together. We're currently working on developing gameplay to capture the essence of the film and break new ground with fans and mobile gamers alike."

"Gameloft continues to deliver quality mobile game production, terrific marketing and a broad distribution network," said Sandi Isaacs, Senior Vice President, Interactive & Mobile at Paramount Digital Entertainment. "Paramount and Shangri-La Entertainment are thrilled to partner with Gameloft on the upcoming Beowulf mobile game."

The mobile game is expected to release in conjunction with the movie's planned opening in November 2007. Visit http://www.beowulfmovie.com for more information on the film.
