Michael Blaker’s Retro Game Friday: Extreme-G 3 Racing

Hey all, I’m back with the third game of the Extreme-G series from back in the early 2000’s for this week’s Retro Game Friday. It’s Extreme-G 3 Racing.

Gameplay: The gameplay isn’t much different from the first two Extreme-G games, including Extreme-G 2 Racing which I covered a few weeks back, but G 3 Racing is much better in terms of both handling and its graphics. As such, most players enjoyed it much more than the prequels, which made it pretty popular at the time for the GameCube.

But it was just a racing title, so it’s not exactly deep in terms of gameplay. It was, however, one of the key racing games available for the Nintendo GameCube, and it was known for being an extremely fast, arcade-like racer.

Art: The art has aged better than its prequels, but that’s not saying much since it’s still really bad by today’s standards.

Music: I didn’t really remember it all to be honest, which is a condemnation in and of itself. But that is mostly because I played with my brother, and we would bicker constantly while racing.

Overall: A much better entry in the Extreme-G series than its two prequels and a fun racer from the GameCube days.
