Hey all, I’m back with another classic comedy film for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s Twins.
Plot: The plot of this comedy is about a man named Julius who was genetically engineered (with six fathers) to be the perfect human. So, he’s raised in isolation by one of the doctors and is a super genius and in peak perfect physical condition. On his 35th birthday he’s told that he actually has a twin brother named Vincent, but they were separated on birth. Desiring to find his brother, Julian heads off into the world despite warnings by the doctor who raised him. Honestly, the movie is pretty good, but it was a little much at times.
The funny thing about Twins is that the perfect twin is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, while the less than perfect twin is played by Danny DeVito. To think of them as twin brothers is pretty hilarious.
Casting: Schwarzenegger and DeVito are the titular twins, and they do an amazing job with their roles. Honestly, it was kind of weird seeing Arnold not being an action hero. But I do remember other comedy films of his, so it’s not too surprising I guess, just not what I remember him being best at. The rest of the cast is good too, but they are all overshadowed by the two lead characters.
Cinematography: Nothing spectacular in terms of special effects occurs, but this is a comedy so that is to be expected.
Music: The music fit the film perfectly.
Overall: A solid comedy film. It was not great, but fun to watch.
For those who like: Comedies, action, drama, and great lead characters.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
