Michael Blaker’s Movie Monday Featuring Twister

Hey all, I’m back with a classic for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s the movie Twister.

Plot: The plot follows a storm chaser named Jo Harding and her drive to study tornadoes. She does this in order to create a better system to detect them sooner to prevent more people from dying tragically like her father did when she was a girl. Honestly, the plot is decent, but it’s not spectacular or incredibly remarkable.

Casting: This film features a rather star-studded cast including Cary Ewles as the antagonist Jonas Miller, but there are plenty of other big names like Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt as the two leads.

Cinematography: The special effects in this movie were pretty amazing back when this was made. Twister was nominated for an Oscar for best visual effects but lost to Independence Day.

Music: The music fit the film but was not overly memorable for me.

Overall: A solid film for the special effects, but a rather lackluster plot dampens the movie for me. It may or may not be worth watching depending on how important the story over the visuals is for you.

For those who like: Action, Adventure, Drama, Excellent Special Effects, and a Great Cast.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above or a rather mediocre plot.
