ESA Joining 24-Hour Gaming Marathon For Charity

The Entertainment Software Association Foundation (ESAF) today announced a new partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) to raise money for nonprofit children’s hospitals across North America. The organizations are collaborating on a nationwide fundraiser called Extra Life, a 24-hour video game marathon. ESAF and CMN Hospitals are encouraging players to participate in the October 20 event as individuals or on teams and to ask sponsors to contribute funds that will support a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital of their choice. Indy Gamers Rally For Charity

On Friday, October 19th, a group of gamers in San Diego, California will launch the second year of the Indie Games for Good video gaming marathon in support of Child’s Play Charity. Last year, Indie Games for Good raised nearly $7000 for the charity, which provides toys, games, books, and money for sick children in over 70 children’s hospitals worldwide. The Indie Games for Good marathon will be broadcast live on the internet, where viewers can tune in and donate money to Child’s Play. Wing Commander Creator Back With New Space Game

Chris Roberts, who helped define the space sim genre in computer games during the 1990s with his Wing Commander and Privateer franchises, is back in the cockpit again with a new title he says will change the way people perceive games for the PC and will breathe new life into space combat games.
