Hey all, I’m back with another Anime Sunday with a classic series in celebration of a new Cyborg 009 series releasing sometime this year. It’s my “Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier” Episode 01 Impressions.
Plot: This is a classic 2000’s series that was adapted from one of the most revered Manga to be made way back in the late 60’s. Honestly, I gave this first episode a watch again last year just because I remember watching it after school but not really recalling it all that much. Honestly, it’s interesting but can be forgettable, which is why I forgot most of it.
Characters: Our main character is the titular Cyborg 009, also known as Joe. He’s a decent main character and one that I enjoy because I’ve always enjoyed the speedier characters more than those who rely on brute force. The rest of the cast is also interesting, but it definitely shows its age with the fact that only one of the main cast is a female. But that’s just how things were back then as this show was very much aimed at younger boys.
Art: The art is pretty solid and was done by Avex, at least that’s according to what I could find which wasn’t easy by any means for some reason. I could be wrong on that, regardless the art is good but definitely dated and keeps to the original art style which is very dated now.
Music: The music fit the episode and was pretty good.
Overall: A great adaptation of a classic series. It will definitely be the bar with which the upcoming adaptation will be measured by.
For those who like: Sci-Fi, Adventure, Drama, and Action.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
